Come check out Paul Johnson’s new warehouse in LIC
April 19, 2012
Meet Paul Johnson of Johnson trading gallery. I started my design collecting by buying Paul Evans commodes from him and I still do, he also has a potpourri of other interesting options, so let’s have a look
This is a beautiful Nakashima dining table in Paul’s new Long Island city warehouse/showroom. Note the floating edge and conoid base, just the way I like it
Not Nakashima, this is a burled maple coffee table by California designer J.B.Blunk—very coool
This is a Paul Evans studio wavy front buffet---good stuff and worth about 150k today
vintage Wendell Castle rocker
New designer, Max lamb, a Paul Johnson discovery and success
This table is by Rafael de Cardenas, he’s the hottest young architect designer for the uber trendy.
Rafael’s work revisits themes from the Memphis movement in the 80s, but turns it into fashion meets design …sexy
Ricky Clifton chairs, kinda rockstar decadent
Paul has collected hundreds of paintings by Robert Loughlin, his signature figure is known as the “brute”. Loughlin was a famous furniture picker in the flea markets…he sold to Warhol, he was also a painter who painted the same figure on everything.
